If you're in danger NOW

Call 111 for the Police- or ask neighbours or friends to ring for you
Run outside - head for where there are other people
Scream for help - let the neighbours hear you
• Take the children with you
• Don't stop to get anything else.

If you need help right now, the Women's Refuge is available 24 hours a day via their crisis phone line. They offer 24-hour access to emergency accommodation, community support, and advocacy services.

Seeking help

This section has been developed for women who are living with violence or abuse. It is also for family and friends who are supporting someone who is being abused. It offers simple guidelines and information that may be crucial in making long term plans for a safe future.

Use the menu on the left to get to information about deciding what to do, making a safety plan, legal information about getting protection and dealing with government departments, and support services, as well as how to help children, young people, and lesbians.

No one deserves to be abused. Women and children don't "ask for it".
It's not your fault, and you are not alone. You can make the change. Don't be afraid to ask for help. Kia kaha.
